Supporting Families Affected by the April 2024 Floods: Extending Love, Relief, and Hope
In April 2024, devastating floods in Kenya displaced thousands of families, destroying homes and leaving many without basic necessities.
At Vine Harvest Education & Shoe Foundation, we transform the lives of vulnerable children through education, mentorship, and social empowerment. By providing school support and shoes to children in low-income communities, we help them unlock their potential and break the cycle of poverty. Together, we can shape Kenya’s future by ensuring every child gets the education they deserve. Join us through sponsorship, mentorship, or donations, and make a lasting impact—one child at a time.

Vine Harvest Education & Shoe Foundation (VHESF) was born out of a simple yet powerful desire to transform the lives of needy and orphaned children in Kenya through education, mentorship, and basic support.
The journey began in July 2008, in Nairobi’s South B area, when one of our co-founders noticed several children from a nearby slum crossing the road to St. Catherine’s Primary School. Despite the chilly morning, these young students walked barefoot or in oversized, worn-out shoes, dressed in tattered uniforms—but full of hope. Moved by compassion, she approached the school and offered to support five children. The head teacher, recognizing the great need, shared a list of 11 vulnerable students in urgent need of help. With the support of family and friends, 15 children were sponsored, marking the beginning of what has become an inspiring and impactful mission.
In response to increasing interest from others who wanted to get involved, and inspired by John 15:5, “I am the vine, you are the branches”, Vine Harvest was officially incorporated in 2008 and later registered as a nonprofit foundation in 2011. This enabled us to expand our reach, open doors for more local and international donors, and provide greater opportunities for disadvantaged children living in Kenya’s informal settlements.
Since then, VHESF has remained committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by improving access to quality education and basic needs for orphans and vulnerable children. Our prayer and passion is that many more lives will be positively transformed through the work we do—one child at a time.
